How do I keep my composting toilet clean?
Before we jump into the how to of keeping your composting toilet as clean as a whistle, let’s first go over the different parts of your composting toilet and which bits need to be cleaned.
Seat & Lid
Pedestal & Bowl
As with a general flush toilet, you can use our Nature Flush Enzymes like you would say a product like ‘Toilet Duck’ – squirt some around the bowl and let it settle for a short time, then use a toilet brush to clean around the bowl. Once finished you can spray lightly with water or wet some toilet paper or paper towel to wipe down the inside of the bowl or pedestal.
How do I clean my composting toilet if I have diarrhea?
Simply swish some of our Nature Flush Enzymes around the bowel and scrub with a toilet brush. You may wish to spray some water around the bowl or pedestal afterwards or simply wet some paper towel and wipe down.
To account for the extra moisture being added to the composting pile, be sure to add some extra bulking agent to help soak it up.
As you can see having a composting toilet at home when one or multiple family members have diarrhea is not really an issue, you just need to approach cleaning the after-effects slightly differently than with a flush toilet.
