Description
Peat moss is a valuable addition to composting toilets, providing a range of benefits that can help to create a healthy and efficient composting system.
- An organic material that is rich in nutrients and has a high water-holding capacity, which can help to balance the moisture content of the composting mixture.
- Excellent source of carbon, which is a key component of composting. Carbon helps to balance the nitrogen-rich urine that is added to the composting toilet, which can help to prevent acidic urine odours and ensure that the composting process is efficient.
- Naturally resistant to decay and can help to regulate the pH level of the composting mixture. This can help to create an environment that is conducive to the growth of beneficial microorganisms, which are essential for breaking down waste and producing high-quality compost.
We only recommend using Peat Moss in small compost starter toilets. As the finer particles (compared to wood shavings or mini hemp) can block drainage holes if it becomes too wet and gets ‘clumpy’.
